Суусамыр — долина горной красоты и свежего кумыса/Kumys from Suusamyr valley

Период с мая по конец сентября — это время свежего кумыса. Если кто-то не знает, кумыс – это полезный кисломолочный напиток из кобыльего молока. Самый вкусный кумыс в Кыргызстане можно попробовать в высокогорной Суусамырской долине, на зеленых полях которой пасутся табуны красивых лошадей, которых тут же доят, а из свежего молока делают кумыс. Уже более сорока лет делает кумыс в Суусамыре и встречает гостей из разных стран Гуля-эже, о которой и пойдет рассказ.

*** This is a story about the Kyrgyz national drink kumys, which is made from horse milk. The best kumys you can ever taste is produced in the Suusamyr valley during the period from the end of May till September. There is an amazing woman Gulyalim Tokusheva who lives and makes kumys there. When she was eighteen she was married to a herdsman and studied in a medical school. Then she quit her studies and moved to Suusamyr. For already forty years every summer she has been making kumys and welcomes tourists from many parts of the world.

Кок-бору: поле футбольное, правила хоккейные и казан вместо ворот/The game kok-boru

Футбольное поле и правила хоккея, защитники и нападающие, вот только вместо мяча – козел, да и люди не на своих двоих, а верхом. Это традиционная игра народов Центральной Азии – кок-бору (она же улак-тартыш, улок или козлодрание, бускаши у афганцев и бузкаши у таджиков).

Football field and ice hockey rules, defenders and attackers, but instead of a ball — a goat  and people riding on horse. This is the traditional game of Central Asian peoples — the kok-boru (or ulak-tartysh, ulok, buskashi in Afghanistan and buzkashi in Tajikistan). During the game players of the one team have to take away the goat from competitors and throw into the opponent’s gate.
